Digital platform workers

Your work is digital.
Your rights are real.

Do you work through a design, programming or translation platform, or provide field services such as delivery and transport through apps? Union organising helps make your voice heard and defend your interests in a changing world of work.

What does the convention cover?

A plain-language explanation of the international standard’s main provisions

Worker organising and representation

Freedom of association and collective bargaining, and opposition to discrimination, forced labour and child labour.

Remuneration and payment terms

Timely payment of amounts due, with lawful and transparent deductions. The minimum wage guarantee is linked to an employment relationship, with consideration given to extending it to workers outside such a relationship.

Algorithmic transparency

Information on automated systems, a written explanation of important decisions that adversely affect work, and review of non-payment, account suspension or termination decisions with appropriate human involvement.

Safety and data protection

A safe and healthy working environment, protection against violence and harassment, and safeguards for workers’ privacy and personal data.

Social protection

Access to social security on terms no less favourable than those applying to other workers with the same classification of status in employment, as specified in the text.

Accounts and dispute resolution

Protection against account suspension or termination for unlawful or discriminatory reasons, and access to fair dispute-resolution mechanisms.

Adoption of the Convention differs from its entry into force

According to the record of NORMLEX when checked on , no ratifications had been recorded and the Convention had not entered into force. It enters into force 12 months after the registration of ratifications by two member States. We present it for awareness and advocacy; this does not mean it applies automatically in Palestine.
