Youth participation and digital organising
Union president Waseem Kalboneh opened the meeting, stressing young people’s role in strengthening union work and defending rights. Dana Mihrab and Salah al-Din Jadallah moderated the discussion on keeping pace with labour market changes and new workers’ needs.
Participants called for a dedicated organised sector for platform and remote workers, providing legal and social protection against non-traditional contracts and job insecurity, and ensuring insurance coverage and minimum wages.
Workshop recommendations
- Increase membership through awareness campaigns for young people and workers in new sectors.
- Train young people in union organising through specialised workshops.
- Organising lobbying and advocacy campaigns for workers’ rights in non-traditional sectors and digital platforms.
The workshop forms part of the union’s plan to strengthen membership and represent different groups of workers in the governorate.
