Membership for platform workers
Guidance for app, platform and remote workers on enquiring about membership and trade union representation and checking with the union which requirements suit their work.
Start with your experience of platform work
If you work through an app, digital platform or remotely, start with a brief professional description for the union: the service you provide, how you receive tasks and how pay is set, and the party you deal with.
You can explain the issue you wish to discuss, such as regular payment, working hours, ratings and account deactivation, or safety. This helps the union understand your situation and direct your enquiry to the appropriate body.
Check the appropriate membership and representation arrangements
The union reviews membership and representation conditions according to the work, the case presented and its approved rules. Discuss the following questions with it before applying:
- Do the union’s membership requirements cover my platform or remote work?
- What are the approved requirements, documents and fees, if any, and how should the application be submitted?
- What follow-up and representation options are available in my case, and who is the responsible person or department?
Membership suitability and the scope of representation must be reviewed directly with the union; eligibility cannot be assumed to be the same for all platform workers.
Complete the steps through direct contact
Once the appropriate steps are confirmed, follow Membership steps guide, and submit your application and any documents requested by the union through its approved channel. Follow up with it on the outcome, membership confirmation and ways to participate.
For enquiries, call the union on 00970593618196, or use its official channels on the contact page.
